University Scholars

Awarded to the top 2 percent of undergraduate juniors (60 credits or more), seniors (90 credits or more), and the members of undergraduate graduation classes from the past year.

Student Academic Honor Societies
  • Phi Beta Kappa—Recognizes superior scholastic attainment in undergraduate programs in the arts and sciences.

  • Golden Key National Honor Society—Recognizes the top 15 percent of the junior and senior classes.

  • Phi Eta Sigma—Promotes academic excellence, in which students of high ideals find companionship and fellowship. Open to any freshman who has attained a 3.5 quality point average during either of the first two terms.

  • Tau Sigma—Recognizes academic excellence and involvement of transfer students.

Student Leadership Awards and Honor Societies
  • Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society—For night school students who have demonstrated scholarship and achievement.

  • Lambda Sigma—For students who are committed to scholarship, leadership, and service.

  • Mortar Board—For students who have demonstrated the combined qualities of scholarship, leadership, and meritorious service to the University and the community, with emphasis placed on growth of the individual and the organization.

  • Omicron Delta Kappa—For meritorious leadership in extracurricular activities, superior scholarship, and general campus citizenship, with the emphasis on the development of the whole person, both as a member of the college community and as a prospective contributor to a better society.

  • Outside the Classroom Curriculum Honorary Society: Recognizes students for taking the initiative to fully engage in their co-curricular life. The students are demonstrating to prospective employers or graduate/professional schools that they have engaged in the education of the whole student.
